An explosion in the basement of a 10 story building at 121-123 W. 19th St. in lower Manhattan at 11:29 a.m. on Thursday blew out windows as high as the fifth floor, left 42 people injured, 12 of them critically, and forced the evacuation of two trade schools in adjacent structures.
