| Description |
| Adding viscous dampers to a pair of 60-story apartment buildings in Manila helped trim 20% of the concrete otherwise needed, says the structural designer. The dampers were placed last month between outrigger walls and perimeter columns at the St. Francis Shangri-La Place, reducing the structural stiffness needed to tame wind-induced vibrations.
