| Description |
| Despite concerns among school alumni and others, Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, N.Y., propelled its planned merger with nearby New York University when trustees overwhelmingly approved of it on March 6. The deal faces state review but would blend NYU’s research platform and financial and recruiting reach with Poly’s engineering capability and diversity. It would create what officials call a mega-engineering school in New York and an economic driver.
