Description

U.S. Attorney Michael J. Sullivan and Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley announced the total $458.2-million settlement with Bechtel/Parsons Brinckerhoff and other design firms. B/PB's agreement covers high-profile slurry-wall tunnel leaks and a fatal tunnel plenum collapse. The deal was announced at a press conference in Boston on Jan. 23. It calls for Bechtel Infrastructure Group, Frederick, Md., to pay $357.1 million. Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade and Douglas, a unit of Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc., New York City, is dunned $50 million. Additionally, an Owner Controlled Insurance Program will pay $40 million and 24 section design consultants $11.1 million to resolve cost-recovery issues.
