FLORIDA Miami-Dade Transit has awarded a seven-year contract to Parsons Brinckerhoff to provide program management consulting services for the PeopleÕs Transportation Plan. The PTP includes construction of 22.2 new miles of Metrorail line; major expansion of the Metrobus system; construction of bus pullout bays on major streets; and the installation of new bus stop signs and new bus shelters. IDAHO-NEBRASKA-NEVADA-SOUTH DAKOTA URS Corp. has been awarded a contract for the HQ Air Combat Command Four-Base Performance Based Contracting project. The $36-million project involves a variety of environmental restoration services at four air bases-Offutt Air Force Base in Neb., Ellisworth Air Force Base in S.D., Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho and the Nellis Air Force Base in Nev. MISSOURI Walton Construction recently completed an $8.7-million soil and site improvements and has recently begun work on Ameristar CasinoÕs $240-million expansion project. Located on a 52-acre site in St. Charles, the expansion plans include a 24-story, 400-room all-suite hotel with a day spa, workout facility and indoor-outdoor swimming pool; 20,000 sq ft of meeting and banquet facilities; and a parking garage with capacity to accommodate 2,000 vehicles. NEVADA A $25.1-million contract has been awarded to David Boland Inc. by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, to build the three-building Predate Maintenance Complex on Creech Air Force Base in Clark County, near Indian Springs. The first two facilities are the FY05 ground control station, which includes a 13,800-sq-ft administrative building on a 3.4-acre site, and the FY05 general purpose maintenance shop, which is a 23,800-sq-ft administrative and shop building on a 5.4-acre site. The last facility is the FY05 hangar addition, which includes a 31,800-sq-ft prefabricated metal building hangar with a concrete approach apron constructed on an existing 1.8-acre site. NEW JERSEY-PENNSYLVANIA Construction of the $25-million Delaware River Turnpike Bridge rehabilitation project is under way by Bishop Sanzari for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. Work on the bridge, which connects Burlington County, N.J., with Bucks County, Pa., includes replacement of 2,912 ft in length of the bridgeÕs deck slab and median barrier on the New Jersey side, repairs and rehabilitation of the structural steel, as well as improvements to the high-maintenance aspects of the bridge. NORTH CAROLINA The new $180-million North Carolina Cancer Hospital is being built by Skanska USA Building Inc. for the University of North Carolina Hospitals. Located in Chapel Hill, the seven-story, 320,000-sq-ft clinical building, projected to open in 2009, will combine cancer treatment and research.
