| Description |
| Shortly before adjourning for the summer, the Senate blocked action on the so-called “trifecta” bill bundling a minimum-wage hike, estate tax relief and an extension of about 20 tax reform measures set to expire at the end of 2006. But senators overwhelmingly passed a bill to overhaul the federal pension system.
