| Former DOT Secretary Norman Y. Mineta stepped down after more than five years as head of DOT, effective July 7. He served longer in the post than anyone in DOT's history. Hill & Knowlton Inc. announced July 10 that Mineta would be joining the firm as vice-chairman. Hill & Knowlton is a unit of WPP Group PLC, London. Mineta's start date is July 24.
