| Kulchin Foundation Drilling Co. started using fiberglass soil nails on several San Diego projects. Kulchin had been using removable steel nails in PVC sleeves. But in 2001, it used 300 sleeveless 20-ft-long x 1-in.-dia fiberglass bars over a 15,000-sq-ft area on the Harbor Landing project. The results were positive.
