| After two days of emergency repairs at McAlpine Lock and Dam, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reopened the Ohio River to commercial traffic on April 2. The Corps shut down the river March 31 after a barge struck a cofferdam at the site, near Louisville, Ky.
