Article Description| The Virginia Dept. of Transportation has terminated negotiations with Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR), which had led a team that proposed $6.3 billion in improvements to 325 miles of Interstate 81 in accordance with the Public Private Transportation Act. VDOT is now soliciting requests for qualifications from design-build teams for a proposed dedicated truck lane along seven miles of I-81. KBR, in a Dec. 18 letter, told VDOT that it could not pursue the 15-year, $6.3-billion project to separate truck and automobile traffic along 325 miles due to its transition from Halliburton into an independent, publicly traded enterprise.
