Article Description| Specialty chemical firm W.R. Grace, Columbia, Md., agreed on Dec. 20 to a $34-million bankruptcy settlement with the government to cover cleanup costs at 32 U.S. Superfund sites in 18 states. Funds will reimburse the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for past costs and pay for future work. W.R. Grace filed for bankruptcy in 2001, but EPA filed claims against it two years later after concluding that the firm contributed to site contamination. EPA will pursue its claim once the bankruptcy court confirms a company reorganization plan. |
