MISSOURI Jacobs Engineering Group has partnered with Treanor Architects on a contract awarded by Southeast Missouri State University to provide architectural and engineering design services for a new 305-bed residence hall on its main campus in Cape Girardeau. NEW YORK-NEW ENGLAND Norfolk Southern Railway Co. and Pan Am Railways announced plans to form a joint venture for a new railroad company called Pan Am Southern. This new venture will create Patriot Corridor, which will improve rail service and expand capacity in New York and New England. The state of New York has committed $3 million in funding for a new intermodal and automotive rail logistics center to be constructed at the former rail yard located within the towns of Halfmoon, Mechanicville and Stillwater. The new rail terminal will anchor the western end of Pan Am Southern’s Patriot Corridor, a 155-mile high-speed freight rail route between Mechanicville and Ayer, Mass., with 281 miles of secondary and branch lines in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. Construction of the new $40-million Saratoga County rail logistics center is expected to start in first quarter 2009 and be complete by April 2010.
