Five months after slashing its construction budget by $1.1 billion, the Virginia Dept. of Transportation may now cut up to $2.6 billion more from its current six-year program. Virginia Secretary of Transportation Pierce Homer announced on Oct. 15 that the weak economy and reduced state and federal revenue are prompting wide-spread cuts in construction, maintenance and staffing.
