The construction industry’s nonfatal injury and illness rate continued to decline in 2007, the Labor Dept.’s Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported. The latest annual BLS Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses, released on Oct. 23, shows construction’s rate of nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses decreased last year to 5.4 cases per 100 full-time workers, from 5.9 in 2006.
