Description: Not very much has changed for Bill Allen, the former CEO of Anchorage oil construction services firm VECO Corp., since his testimony last month helped to convict Alaska’s senior senator, Ted Stevens (R) on bribery and conspiracy charges. Most were related to the 84-year-old politician’s failure to disclose thousands of dollars of free construction on his Alaska home. Stevens says he will appeal the Oct. 27 conviction by the Dec. 5 deadline, and at ENR press time, has managed to hang onto a 4,000 vote lead in his re-election bid on Nov. 4. But thousands more Alaska absentee and disputed ballots must be recounted, leaving Stevens in official limbo for at least two weeks.
