Description: Las Vegas prides itself on thinking big, but many of its big building plans are being tested by fewer visitors, declined gaming revenues and tightened credit. On Aug. 1, Boyd Gaming Corp. halted construction on its $4.8-billion, 5,000-room Echelon mega-resort after a year, citing “weak economic conditions” and “the difficult environment in today's capital markets.”
