Green Construction May Help Builders Overcome the Blues - ENR | McGraw-Hill Construction

Publication Date: 20-FEB-08
Author: William G. Krizan in Orlando
Format: HTML

Description:
Homebuilders may be feeling blue about the depressed state of the U.S. housing market, but many think they can set themselves apart from their peers by adopting green building practices. They are receiving support from all sides. The National Association of Home Builders has launched a green building program, is working on an American National Standards Institute standard for rating and certifying green homes, and is developing a professional certification program for builders. The U.S. Dept. of Energy also has challenged builders to produce at least 220,000 green homes by 2012.
