Description: The U.S. Dept. of Energy has awarded the last of three multibillion-dollar cleanup contracts at its huge Hanford former nuclear weapon site in Richland, Wash. A team led by Lockheed Martin, with Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., won DOE’s $3-billion mission-support contract for infrastructure and site services work that could extend for up to 10 years. The team is to start a 90-day transition period on Oct. 1 from current contractor Fluor Hanford, which did not rebid. Two larger cleanup contracts at Hanford were won earlier this year by teams led by EnergySolutions and the Washington Division of URS, and by CH2M Hill Cos.
