Manhattan’s New Landmark - ENR | McGraw-Hill Construction

Publication Date: 17-SEP-08
Format: HTML

Description:
The people that brought you the critically acclaimed Beijing National Stadium for the 2008 Olympics in China are set to start work on their latest masterpiece, a 57-story residential building in downtown Manhattan. Basel, Switzerland-based architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron designed the distinctive tower, which will have 145 residences, each with a unique floor plan, ranging in size from 1,430 sq ft to 6,380 sq ft and with price tags up to $33 million. The building’s articulated surfaces and dramatic cantilevers are intended to break down the old image of the high-rise as a sleek, hermetically sealed space.
