Description: Four trucks left Okeechobee, Fla., at 8 a.m. on Aug. 28 for a residential site in Sarasota, Fla. When they packed up and left the site at 4:30 that afternoon, a new, 1,900-sq-ft house, with interior finishes, light fixtures and cabinets, stood on the lot. Royal Concrete Concepts, West Palm Beach, Fla., builds the four-module homes typically in four weeks in the Okeechobee plant. Crews prepare and set each module in about 45 minutes. Walls, floors and roof are all of concrete and tested and certified to withstand Category 5 hurricane winds, say company officials. The house costs $108,000.
