Description: HOK Sports Venue Event, a major sports-facility design firm based in Kansas City, announced on Aug. 28 that it will split from its parent, HOK Group Inc., following a company buyout by a management team. The firm had been a wholly owned subsidiary of HOK Group since 2000 but part of the parent firm for 25 years. It will adopt a new name when the deal is completed by early next year, executives say. Financial details were not disclosed. “This is a logical step that will free all of us to focus on core practices,” says Clark S. Davis, HOK Group vice chairman.
