Description:
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says it has reached a settlement with Washington Group International Inc. over charges of racial harassment at an Everett, Mass., powerplant project. According to the U.S. lawsuit, WGI “created a racially hostile work environment for black employees” at the Sithe Mystic Power Plant, where it was the general contractor from December 2001 to June 2003. Under the terms of the settlement, 17 former WGI employees will divide $1.5 million from the company. WGI says it “did not discriminate against the individuals” and made no admission of liability in the settlement.
