$1 Billion of Military Jobs Awarded - ENR | McGraw-Hill Construction

Description: The U.S. Defense Dept. on March 3 announced three contracts worth more than $1.1 billion for new and expanded structures in the Washington, D.C., area as part of ramped-up base realignment. Clark Construction Group and Balfour Beatty Construction won the largest piece, a $641.4-million award, to add space to merge the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center into the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. Hensel Phelps Construction Co. won the other two, both at Fort Meade, Md., from the Corps of Engineers. In a $370-million award, the firm will build a new 1-million-sq-ft headquarters for the Defense Information Systems Agency.
