Used Equipment in Demand - ENR | McGraw-Hill Construction

Publication Date: 05-MAR-08
Format: HTML

Description:
Despite a soft economy, more than 6,000 people from 71 countries attended a landmark Ritchie Bros. auction held Feb. 19-23 in Orlando, where gross equipment sales rang up $190 million. Global buyers outside of the U.S. soaked up a large chunk of the heavy iron sales, about 36%, while 2,000 registered bidders participated online and bought $30 million of equipment. Machines in high demand were late-model motor graders, paving equipment and cranes, says Gary Seybold, regional manager. “Even though the market here in Florida is pretty weak at the moment, road work is still strong, and in other parts of the world business is still strong,” he says. The auction featured nearly 6,200 pieces of equipment.
