The Building Owners and Managers Association International is considering lobbying at state and local jurisdictions to try to keep them from adopting a requirement for a third stairwell in new buildings 420 ft or taller. The requirement will be part of the 2009 edition of the International Building Code, the most widely adopted model code in the U.S.
