Unapproved, combustible resins on decorative bands of an upper floor at a Las Vegas Strip resort fueled a Jan. 25 fire, Clark County officials say. A county investigation ruled the fire at the Monte Carlo hotel-casion unintentional, but owner MGM Mirage Inc. now must hire a Nevada-registered fire-protection engineer to recommend remedies to issues identified in a newly released report.
