While three design-build teams prepare to submit proposals for construction of seven California prison hospitals by 2014, the court-appointed receiver for state medical prisons is seeking $8-billion in funding-$6-billion for 10,000 beds and $2 billion for 33 prison-hospital upgrades and dental facilities throughout the hospitals.
