Description: California last week became the first state in the nation to adopt a green-building code for new public and private construction, including schools and housing developments. Reaction from the buildings sector to the performance-based code, which focuses on energy and water conservation, is primarily positive. But because the final language of the California Green Building Standards Code is still under development, its impact, if any, on the cost of construction remains unknown.
