The mystery surrounding the Jan. 25 rooftop fire at the  32-story MGM Monte Carlo Las Vegas hotel tower, which spread to a small section of the facade on the south and west faces, concerns the composition of the 30-ft-tall roof screen and ornaments that caught fire. Fire officials in Clark County are awaiting results of an in­vestigation to determine whether there is any reason to make any changes to building codes or to survey other Las Vegas buildings that might sport the same decorative material.
