AECOM Buys Ellerbe Becket

AECOM Technology Corp., Los Angeles, has added one more design firm to its large stable, announcing on Oct. 26 that it has acquired Ellerbe Becket Inc. Founded in 1909, Ellerbe Becket ranks 135 on ENR’s list of the The Top 500 Design Firms, with $94.3 million in 2008 revenue and 450 employees. The firm will provide AECOM more capability in health-care, higher-education and sports-design markets. Ellerbe Becket ranks 13th on ENR’s list of designers of health-care facilities, based on 2008 revenue. AECOM had revenue of $6.1 billion for the 12-month period ended June 30, 2009.

PLANNING:
CALIFORNIA Rainbow Municipal Water District is seeking design services for demolition of the existing 8-million-gallon concrete-lined earthen Pala Mesa Reservoir and also the design for a tank site to take its place.

CONTRACTS/BIDS/PROPOSALS:
CONNECTICUT Suffolk Construction Co. Inc. has been awarded a .5-million firm-fixed-price design-build contract by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command for a waterfront operations small-craft facility at the Naval Submarine Base New London.
