URS-Led Team Assumes Control Of U.K.’s Sellafield Nuclear Site

The U.K.’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority has completed the formal transfer of management and operations of the former Sellafield nuclear fuel production complex in northern England to Nuclear Management Partners Ltd., a joint venture led by URS Corp.’s Washington Division. It also includes AMEC plc., London, and Areva S.A., Paris. Under the contract, which could last from five to 17 years, the consortium will manage $2 billion a year in cleanup work  at the 60-year-old complex for fees of up to $80 million.
