The Rocky Flats site outside Denver is finally ending its reign as one of the U.S. Dept of Energy’s nastiest Cold War legacies. The former plutonium production complex has completed a 10-year, $7-billion cleanup that has rid the site of hundreds of contaminated structures and readied it to be a wildlife sanctuary.
